4N.I.In relation to any time before the coming into force of section 21 of the M1Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000, paragraph 7(13) of Schedule 1 shall have effect as if for the definition of “nominating officer” there were substituted—
““nominating officer” means—
(a)in relation to a registered party, the registered nominating officer or a member of the Assembly nominated by him for the purpose;
(b)in relation to any other political party, the person who appears to the Secretary of State to be the leader of the party, or a member of the Assembly nominated by that person for the purpose;
“registered” means registered under the M2Registration of Political Parties Act 1998 or the M3Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000;”.
