43 Introductory.E+W

(1)This section has effect for the purposes of this Part.

[F1(1A)Local authority” means a local authority in England.]

(2)Relevant functions”, in relation to a local authority, means relevant adoption functions and relevant fostering functions.

(3)In relation to a local authority—

(a)relevant adoption functions” means functions under [F2the Adoption and Children Act 2002] of making or participating in arrangements for the adoption of children [F3or the provision of adoption support services (as defined in section 2(6) of the Adoption and Children Act 2002)]; and

(b)“relevant fostering functions” means functions under—

(i)section 22C of the 1989 Act in connection with placements with local authority foster parents or regulations under paragraph 12E(a), (b), (d) or (e) or 12F of Schedule 2 to that Act,
