• “the 1978 Act” means the M1 National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978;

• “authority” has the meaning given by section 1(8) [F4 , except in Schedule 1];

• “health service” means the health service in England and Wales and the health service in Scotland;

• “medical list” has the meaning given by section 2(5);

• “personal medical services” and “personal dental services” have the meaning given in section 1(8);

• “pilot scheme” and “piloted services” have the meaning given in section 1;

• “prescribed” means prescribed by regulations; and

• “regulations” means regulations under this Act.]
