Length of notice for calling meetingsU.K.

21(1)Any provision contained in the rules of a building society shall be void to the extent that it provides for the calling of a meeting of the society (other than an adjourned meeting) by less than 21 days’ notice expiring with the date of the meeting or, if earlier, the date specified by the society, under its rules, as the final date for the receipt of [F1appointments of] proxies to vote at the meeting.U.K.

(2)A meeting of a building society may be called by 21 days’ notice, unless the rules provide for longer notice of the meeting to be given.

(3)Where notice of a meeting is given in accordance with sub-paragraph (2) above, the notice shall be taken for the purposes of this Act or any other enactment to have been duly given according to the rules of the building society.
