F1“building society” means a building society within the meaning of the Building Societies Act 1986;

“financial year” means the period of 12 months ending with the 31st March;

“highway”, in relation to Scotland, includes a public right of way;

“subsidiary” has the meaning given by F2section 1159 of the Companies Act 2006 .
