"the 1984 Act" means the [1984 c. 27.] Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984 ;

" parking place " , " traffic sign " and " road " have the meanings assigned to them respectively by sections 32(4)(b), 64(1) and 142(1) of the 1984 Act;

" local authority " means the council of a metropolitan district or London borough ; and

references to a London borough include references to the City and references to the council of a London borough include references to the Common Council.
