				</ukm:Metadata><Primary><Body DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/30/body" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1979/30/body" NumberOfProvisions="5"><P1group><Title> The Exchange Equalisation Account.</Title><P1 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/30/section/1" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1979/30/section/1" id="section-1"><Pnumber>1</Pnumber><P1para><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/1" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/1" id="section-1-1"><Pnumber>1</Pnumber><P2para><Text>There shall continue to be an account called the Exchange Equalisation Account (in this Act referred to as “<Term id="term-the-account">the Account</Term>”).</Text></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/2" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/2" id="section-1-2"><Pnumber>2</Pnumber><P2para><Text>The Account shall continue to be under the control of the Treasury.</Text></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/3" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/3" id="section-1-3"><Pnumber>3</Pnumber><P2para><Text>The Account is to be used—</Text><P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/3/a" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/3/a" id="section-1-3-a"><Pnumber>a</Pnumber><P3para><Text>for checking undue fluctuations in the exchange value of sterling;</Text></P3para></P3><P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/3/b" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/3/b" id="section-1-3-b"><Pnumber>b</Pnumber><P3para><Text>for securing the conservation or disposition in the national interest of the means of making payments abroad;</Text></P3para></P3><P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/3/c" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/3/c" id="section-1-3-c"><Pnumber>c</Pnumber><P3para><Text>for the purpose specified in section 1(3) of the <CommentaryRef Ref="c911157"/>International Monetary Fund Act 1979 (payment of charges under section 8 of Article V of the Articles of Agreement of the International Monetary Fund); and</Text></P3para></P3><P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/3/d" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1979/30/section/1/3/d" id="section-1-3-d"><Pnumber>d</Pnumber><P3para><Text>for carrying out any of the functions of the Government of the United Kingdom under those of the said Articles of Agreement which relate to special drawing rights.</Text></P3para></P3></P2para></P2></P1para></P1></P1group></Body></Primary><Commentaries><Commentary id="c911157" Type="M"><Para><Text><Citation URI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukpga/1979/29" id="c00001" Year="1979" Class="UnitedKingdomPublicGeneralAct" Number="29">1979 c. 29</Citation>. </Text></Para></Commentary></Commentaries></Legislation>
