<Pnumber>1</Pnumber>

<Text>The master of a vessel who fails to comply with a general direction or special direction shall be guilty of an offence and liable on summary conviction to a fine not exceeding level 4 on the standard scale.</Text>

<Pnumber>2</Pnumber>
<P2para>
<Text>It shall be a defence for the master of a vessel charged with an offence under subsection (1) to prove that he took all reasonable precautions and exercised due diligence to avoid the commission of the offence or that he had a reasonable excuse for the act or for the failure to act.</Text>
