The Secretary of State makes these Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 31(1)(a) and (b) of, and paragraph 27 of Schedule 5 to, the European Union (Future Relationship) Act 20201.
There has been consultation as required by Article 9 of Regulation (EC) No 178/2002 of the European Parliament and of the Council laying down the general principles and requirements of food law, establishing the European Food Safety Authority and laying down procedures in matters of food safety2 during the preparation, evaluation and revision of food law in relation to these Regulations.
In accordance with paragraph 6(1) of Schedule 5 to the European Union (Future Relationship) Act 2020, a draft of this instrument has been laid before Parliament and approved by a resolution of each House of Parliament.
