30.  In section 65(1)—

(a) in subsection (1)(e), insert after paragraph (ii)—

“(iii) the Combined Authority;”;

(b) for subsection (1A)(2), substitute—

“(1A) Subsection (1)(e)(i) does not prevent a deputy mayor for policing and crime—

(a) from being elected as Mayor at an election held under the West Yorkshire Combined Authority (Election of Mayor and Functions) Order 2021;

(b) from being elected at an election held under the Combined Authorities (Mayors) (Filling of Vacancies) Order 2017(3) to fill a vacancy in the office of Mayor if, on the day on which the person is nominated as a candidate at the election and at all times between that day and the declaration of the result of the election, the deputy is acting as acting commissioner under section 62.”.
