This Part makes provision for a benefit cap under section 96 of the Act which, if applicable, reduces the amount of an award of universal credit.

In this Part “couple” means—
a
joint claimants; or
b
a single claimant who is a member of a couple within the meaning of section 39 of the Act and the other member of that couple,
and references to a couple include each member of that couple individually.
