<Text>exercise by police officers of statutory powers of stop and search;</Text>

<Text>searching of premises by police officers and the seizure of property found by police officers on persons or premises;</Text>

<Text>detention, treatment and questioning of persons by police officers;</Text>

<Text>This Order appoints 1<Superior>st</Superior> August 2004 as the date on which revised codes of practice under sections 60(1)(a), 60A(1) and 66(1)(a) to (d) of the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984 (“the Act”) will come into operation, superseding codes of practice which have been in operation since 1<Superior>st</Superior> April 2003 (in respect of Codes A to E) and 7<Superior>th</Superior> May 2002 (in the case of Code F).</Text>

<Text>This Order revokes the Orders set out in paragraphs (a) to (c) of article 4 which, together, brought the current versions of the codes of practice under sections 60(1)(a), 60A(1) and 66(1)(a) to (d) of the Act into operation.</Text>
</P>

<Text>This Order also revokes the Orders set out in paragraphs (d) and (e) of article 4 which, together, made modifications to Codes C and D which applied in certain police areas. The revised Codes C and D now contain provisions relating to drug testing under section 63B<FootnoteRef Ref="f00008"/> of the Act which will only apply in certain police areas.</Text>

<Text>The codes of practice will be published by the Stationery Office: copies may be obtained from its bookshops. The codes of practice will also be available on the Home Office website.</Text>
