General and final provisions
10Sunset
1
Sections 1 to 7 expire at the end of the period of five years beginning with the day on which the first draft order under section 1 is laid before the General Synod.
2
But the Archbishops' Council may by order provide that sections 1 to 7—
a
are not to expire at the time when they would otherwise expire under subsection (1) or under the most recent order made under this section, and
b
are instead to continue in force after that time either indefinitely or for such period as the order specifies.
3
If sections 1 to 7 expire by virtue of this section, the words “1 or” in each place they appear in section 9 are repealed in consequence.
4
An order under this section may contain transitional, transitory or saving provision.
5
An order under this section must be laid before the General Synod and does not come into force unless—
a
it is approved by the General Synod, and
b
it is approved by Parliament in accordance with subsection (6).
6
The power to make an order under this section is exercisable by statutory instrument; and the Statutory Instruments Act 1946 applies—
a
as if the order had been made by a Minister of the Crown, and
b
as if this Measure were an Act of Parliament providing for the order not to be made unless a draft of the instrument containing the order has been laid before and approved by resolution of each House of Parliament.
