CommentaryRef="c922390">18</Addition></Pnumber><P1para><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/1" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/1" id="section-18-1"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390"><CommentaryRef Ref="c922391"/>1</Addition></Pnumber><P2para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">There shall be a committee, to be known as the Vacation of Benefices Rule Committee, which shall consist of a chairman and four other members appointed by the Standing Committee of the General Synod.</Addition></Text></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/2" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/2" id="section-18-2"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">2</Addition></Pnumber><P2para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">The Vacation of Benefices Rule Committee shall have power to make rules for carrying into effect the provisions of this Measure and, in particular, for—</Addition></Text><P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/2/a" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/2/a" id="section-18-2-a"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">a</Addition></Pnumber><P3para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">regulating the procedure and practice (including the mode and burden of proof and admissibility of evidence) of provincial tribunals in connection with enquiries under this Measure;</Addition></Text></P3para></P3><P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/2/b" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/2/b" id="section-18-2-b"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">b</Addition></Pnumber><P3para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">obtaining medical evidence in connection with enquiries under this Measure.</Addition></Text></P3para></P3></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/3" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/3" id="section-18-3"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">3</Addition></Pnumber><P2para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">Any three members of the Vacation of Benefices Rule Committee may exercise all the powers of the committee.</Addition></Text></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/4" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/4" id="section-18-4"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">4</Addition></Pnumber><P2para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">Any rules made under this section shall be laid before the General Synod and shall not come into force until approved by the General Synod, whether with or without amendment.</Addition></Text></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/5" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/5" id="section-18-5"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390"><CommentaryRef Ref="c922392"/>5</Addition></Pnumber><P2para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">Where the Standing Committee determines that the rules do not need to be debated by the General Synod then, unless—</Addition></Text><P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/5/a" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/5/a" id="section-18-5-a"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">a</Addition></Pnumber><P3para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">notice is given by a member of the General Synod in accordance with its Standing Orders that he wishes the rules to be debated, or</Addition></Text></P3para></P3><P3 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/5/b" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/5/b" id="section-18-5-b"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">b</Addition></Pnumber><P3para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">notice is so given by any such member that he wishes to move an amendment to the rules </Addition><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390"><Addition ChangeId="d29p1489" CommentaryRef="c922393">and at least twenty-five other members of the General Synod indicate when the amendment is called that they wish the amendment to be moved</Addition></Addition><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">,</Addition></Text></P3para></P3><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">the rules shall for the purposes of subsection (4) above be deemed to have been approved by the General Synod without amendment.</Addition></Text></P2para></P2><P2 DocumentURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/6" IdURI="http://www.legislation.gov.uk/id/ukcm/1977/1/section/18/6" id="section-18-6"><Pnumber><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">6</Addition></Pnumber><P2para><Text><Addition ChangeId="d29p1430" CommentaryRef="c922390">The Statutory Instruments Act 1946 shall apply to any rules approved by the General Synod under subsection (4) above as if they were statutory instruments and were made when so approved, and as if this Measure were an Act providing that any such rules should be subject to annulment
