Stipends (Cessation of Special Payments) Measure 2005 (Appointed Day Instrument 2005)

Whereas the Stipends (Cessation of Special Payments) Measure received the Royal Assent on the twenty–fourth day of March 2005

And Whereas by section 5(2) of the said Measure it is provided that the said Measure shall come into force on such day as the Archbishops of Canterbury and York may jointly appoint and that different days may be appointed for different provisions

And Whereas the See of York has been vacant since the twenty–eighth day of February 2005 by reason of the resignation of the Most Reverend David Michael Hope

Now therefore I ROWAN DOUGLAS by Divine Providence Archbishop of Canterbury do hereby appoint that:

• all the provisions of the said Measure other than section 2 shall come into force on the first day of July 2005; and

• the said section 2 shall come into force on the thirty–first day of December 2005.
