Coming into force
The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the power conferred by section 116(2) of the Victims, Witnesses, and Justice Reform (Scotland) Act 20251.

Citation and commencement1.

These Regulations may be cited as the Victims, Witnesses, and Justice Reform (Scotland) Act 2025 (Commencement No. 1 and Transitional Provision) Amendment Regulations 2026 and come into force on 11 February 2026.

Amendment of the Victims, Witnesses, and Justice Reform (Scotland) Act 2025 (Commencement No. 1 and Transitional Provision) Regulations 20252.

The Victims, Witnesses, and Justice Reform (Scotland) Act 2025 (Commencement No. 1 and Transitional Provision) Regulations 20252 are amended in accordance with paragraph (2).

In regulation 2(2) (appointed days), for “23 March 2026” substitute “11 February 2026”.

Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend the Victims, Witnesses, and Justice Reform (Scotland) Act 2025 (Commencement No. 1 and Transitional Provision) Regulations 2025. Regulation 2 substitutes the date on which sections 55 (Parole Board rules: decisions where prisoner has information about victim’s remains) and 56 (Parole Board rules: safety and security of victims and victims’ family) come into force. Sections 55 and 56 will come into force on 11 February 2026, instead of 23 March 2026.
