The Court of Session makes this Act of Sederunt under the powers conferred by section 103(1) of the Courts Reform (Scotland) Act 2014(1) and all other powers enabling it to do so.
Citation and commencement, etc.
1.—(1) This Act of Sederunt may be cited as the Act of Sederunt (Rules of the Court of Session 1994 Amendment) (Court Sittings) 2023.
(2) It comes into force on 31st March 2023.
(3) A certified copy is to be inserted in the Books of Sederunt.
Amendment of the Rules of the Court of Session 1994
2.—(1) Rule 10.3 (holiday dates, periods and vacation sitting days) of the Rules of the Court of Session 1994(2) is amended in accordance with this paragraph.
(2) In the definition of “public holiday”, in the column of the Table labelled “2023” below “Monday 1st May 2023” insert “Monday 8th May 2023”.
Amendment of Act of Sederunt (Rules of the Court of Session 1994 Amendment) (Court Sittings) 2022
3.—(1) The Act of Sederunt (Rules of the Court of Session 1994 Amendment) (Court Sittings) 2022(3) is amended in accordance with this paragraph.
(2) In schedule 3, in the column of the Table labelled “2024”—
(a)for “Wednesday 23rd December 2024” substitute “Monday 23rd December 2024”;
(b)for “Wednesday 30th December 2024” substitute “Monday 30th December 2024”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Act of Sederunt)
This Act of Sederunt amends the Rules of the Court of Session 1994 to prescribe Monday 8th May 2023 as a public holiday to commemorate the Coronation of His Majesty King Charles III. It also corrects two dates for vacation sitting days in 2024 which were accorded the incorrect day of the week in an earlier instrument.
The Rules of the Court of Session 1994 are in schedule 2 of the Act of Sederunt (Rules of the Court of Session 1994) 1994 (S.I. 1994/1443), last amended by S.S.I. 2022/329. Rule 10.3 was substituted by S.S.I. 2017/414 and last amended by S.S.I. 2021/153. Rule 10.3 is prospectively amended by S.S.I. 2022/250.
