The Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021 (Commencement No. 2) Regulations 2022
Citation and commencement1.
These Regulations may be cited as the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021 (Commencement No. 2) Regulations 2022 and come into force on 15 August 2022.
Appointed day2.
15 August 2022 is the day appointed for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021—
(a)
section 1 (local authorities to ensure period products generally obtainable free of charge),
(b)
section 2 (education providers to ensure period products obtainable free of charge by pupils and students),
(c)
section 3 (specified public service bodies to ensure period products obtainable free of charge by persons in their premises),
(d)
section 4 (arrangements under sections 1, 2 and 3: particular requirements), and
(e)
section 8 (information to be provided to public).

These Regulations bring into force sections 1 to 4 and section 8 of the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021 (“the Act”) on 15 August 2022.
The Period Products in Schools (Scotland) Regulations 2020 (S.S.I. 2020/183) will be revoked when section 2(8) of the Act is brought into force.
The Bill for the Act received Royal Assent on 12 January 2021. Sections 9 (key definitions), 10 (interpretation), 11 (commencement) and 12 (short title) came into force on the following day. Sections 5 (guidance), 6 (statement on exercise of functions), and 7 (consultation) were brought into force by the Period Products (Free Provision) (Scotland) Act 2021 (Commencement No. 1) Regulations 2021 (S.S.I. 2021/104) on 18 March 2021.
