The Prisons and Young Offenders Institutions (Coronavirus) (Scotland) Amendment Rules 2021

Coming into force
The Scottish Ministers make the following Rules in exercise of the powers conferred by section 39 of the Prisons (Scotland) Act 19891 and all other powers enabling them to do so.

Citation and commencement1.

These Rules may be cited as the Prisons and Young Offenders Institutions (Coronavirus) (Scotland) Amendment Rules 2021 and come into force on 30 March 2021.

Amendment of the Prisons and Young Offenders Institutions (Scotland) Rules 20112.

In rule 2(1) (interpretation) of the Prisons and Young Offenders Institutions (Scotland) Rules 20112 in the definition of “for the duration of the coronavirus outbreak” for “31 March 2021” substitute “30 September 2021”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Rules)

These Rules amend the Prisons and Young Offenders Institutions (Scotland) Rules 2011 (“the Prison Rules”) in response to the coronavirus outbreak.

Rule 2(1) of the Prison Rules is amended to extend the definition of “for the duration of the coronavirus outbreak” to mean the time period starting with the commencement of the Prisons and Young Offenders Institutions (Scotland) Amendment Rules 20203 and continuing until 30 September 2021.
