Coming into force
The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 12(2) of the Scottish Elections (Franchise and Representation) Act 20201.

Citation and commencement1.

These Regulations may be cited as the Scottish Elections (Franchise and Representation) Act 2020 (Commencement) Regulations 2020 and come into force on 3 August 2020.

Appointed day2.

The day appointed for the coming into force of Parts 1 and 2 of the Scottish Elections (Franchise and Representation) Act 2020 is 3 August 2020.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)

The Bill for the Scottish Elections (Franchise and Representation) Act 2020 (“the Act”) received Royal Assent on 1 April 2020. Parts 3 and 4 of the Act came into force on the following day. These Regulations bring the remaining Parts of the Act, Parts 1 and 2, into force on 3 August 2020.
