The area of City of Edinburgh Council is divided into 17 electoral wards as described in the schedule of the Order. This Order applies only for the purposes of an election to be held on or after 4th May 2017. 2016 No. 270 Made 13th September 2016 Laid before the Scottish Parliament 14th September 2016 Coming into force 30th September 2016 The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 17(2) of the Local Government (Scotland) Act 1973 and all other powers enabling them to do so. This Order gives effect to proposals submitted to them on 26th May 2016 by the Boundary Commission under section 17(1) of that Act regarding electoral arrangements for the area of City of Edinburgh Council. 1973 c.65. The functions of the Secretary of State were transferred to the Scottish Ministers by virtue of section 53 of the Scotland Act 1998 (c.46).
