The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 9(2) of the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014

Citation and commencement1.

This Order may be cited as the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Integration Joint Board Establishment) (Scotland) Amendment Order 2016 and comes into force on 6th February 2016.

This Order amends the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Integration Joint Board Establishment) (Scotland) Order 2015 (“the establishment Order”) in order to establish integration joint boards for the purposes of the Public Bodies (Joint Working) (Scotland) Act 2014 (“the 2014 Act”).

The Schedule to the establishment Order contains a list of integration joint boards established for specified local authority areas. Article 2 of this Order amends this list to insert details of 6 integration joint boards to be established on 6th February 2016: Aberdeen City Integration Joint Board; Aberdeenshire Integration Joint Board; Scottish Borders Integration Joint Board; Glasgow City Integration Joint Board; Moray Integration Joint Board and Orkney Islands Integration Joint Board.

By virtue of the 2014 Act, once an integration joint board is established, it is to carry out such statutory health and social care functions as the local authority and health board for that area delegate to it. Full provision for the delegation of functions and the local operation of each integration joint board is set out in an integration scheme prepared under section 1 or 2 of the 2014 Act, which has been approved by the Scottish Ministers in advance of the integration joint board being established.
