The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the power conferred by section 83(2) of the Tribunals (Scotland) Act 2014(1) and all other powers enabling them to do so.

Citation, commencement and interpretation

1.—(1) This Order may be cited as the Tribunals (Scotland) Act 2014 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2014 and comes into force on 14th July 2014.

(2) In this Order, “the 2014 Act” means the Tribunals (Scotland) Act 2014.

Day appointed

2.  14th July 2014 is the day appointed for the coming into force of—

(a)section 4(1) to (3) of the 2014 Act, and

(b)section 4(5) of the 2014 Act (but only for the purpose of assigning a person to office under section 4(2)).

EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force section 4(1) to (3) and (5) of the Tribunals (Scotland) Act 2014, to allow the appointment of a President of the Scottish Tribunals.

2014 asp 10. Section 8 of the Interpretation and Legislative Reform (Scotland) Act 2010 (asp 10) allows the power to be exercised so as to appoint different days for different purposes.
