EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order prohibits the keeping of animals of the genus Apis (honey bees) on the adjoining islands of Colonsay and Oronsay other than animals of the subspecies Apis mellifera mellifera (a “black bee”).

Any person who keeps or has in their possession or control on those islands a honey bee other than a black bee may be guilty of an offence under section 14ZC of the Wildlife and Countryside Act 1981.

A business and regulatory impact assessment has not been prepared for this Order.
