The Looked After Children (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2013

Coming into force
The Scottish Ministers make the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by section 17(1) and (7) of the Children (Scotland) Act 19951 and all other powers enabling them to do so.

Citation and commencement1.

These Regulations may be cited as the Looked After Children (Scotland) Amendment Regulations 2013 and come into force on 15th March 2013.

Amendment of the Looked After Children (Scotland) Regulations 20092.

At the end of regulation 6(1)(a) of the Looked After Children (Scotland) Regulations 20092 (death of a looked after child) omit “and” and insert—

“(aa)

notify Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland3; and”.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations amend regulation 6(1) of the Looked After Children (Scotland) Regulations 2009 which make provision in relation to the death of looked after children with the effect that Social Care and Social Work Improvement Scotland must also be notified immediately by a local authority when a child who is looked after by that local authority dies.
