The Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007 (Membership of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission) Amendment Order 2010
In accordance with section 79(3)(c) of that Act, a draft of this instrument has been laid before, and approved by resolution of, the Scottish Parliament.
Citation and commencement1.
This Order may be cited as the Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007 (Membership of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission) Amendment Order 2010 and comes into force on the day after the day on which it is made.
Membership of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission2.
Paragraph 2 of schedule 1 to the Legal Profession and Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 2007 is amended as follows—
(a)
in sub-paragraph (1)(b), for “8” substitute “11”;
(b)
in sub-paragraph (3), for “4” substitute “6”; and
(c)
in sub-paragraph (4), for “4” substitute “5”.

This Order makes certain changes to the number and composition of the membership of the Scottish Legal Complaints Commission. The number of members (other than the chairing member) is increased from 8 to 11 (article 2(a)). This increase is made up of an increase in the number of non-lawyer members (other than the chairing member) from 4 to 6 (article 2(b)) and an increase in the number of lawyer members from 4 to 5 (article 2(c)).
