The Public Transport Users' Committee for Scotland Amendment Order 2008

Coming into force

The Scottish Ministers make the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 41(1) and (2)(a) of the Transport (Scotland) Act 20051 and all other powers enabling them to do so.

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Public Transport Users' Committee for Scotland Amendment Order 2008 and comes into force on 1st July 2008.

Amendment of the Public Transport Users' Committee for Scotland Order 20062

Article 6 (constitution and membership of the committee) of the Public Transport Users' Committee for Scotland Order 20062 is amended as follows–

for paragraph (1)(b) substitute–

at least 9, but not more than 14, other members,

after paragraph (1) insert–

At least 3 members of the Committee shall be disabled persons.

In paragraph (1A) “disabled person” has the same meaning as given by section 1(2) of the Disability Discrimination Act 19953.

This Order amends the Public Transport Users' Committee for Scotland Order 2006 to specify a range for the number of members of the Committee of 10 to 15 (including the convener) and to ensure that 3 of those members will be disabled persons. These amendments are made to reflect the fact that the Committee will now consider matters formerly considered by the Mobility and Access Committee for Scotland.
