The Scottish Commission for Human Rights Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2007

The Queen's Most Excellent Majesty in Council

This Order is made in exercise of the powers conferred by section 22(3) and (4) of the Scottish Commission for Human Rights Act 2006(1) and all other powers enabling Her Majesty to do so.

Accordingly Her Majesty is pleased, by and with the advice of Her Privy Council, to order as follows.

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Scottish Commission for Human Rights Act 2006 (Commencement No. 1) Order 2007.

Appointed Day

2.  8th November 2007 is the appointed day for the coming into force of the following provisions of the Scottish Commission for Human Rights Act 2006:–

(a)section 1 so far as relating to paragraphs 1 to 15 of schedule 1;

(b)section 7; and

(c)paragraphs 1 to 15 of schedule 1.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 8th November 2007 various provisions of the Scottish Commission for Human Rights Act 2006 (“the Act”).

Article 2(a) and (c) commences section 1 (in part) of and paragraphs 1 to 15 of schedule 1 (the Scottish Commission for Human Rights (“the Commission”)) to the Act. Section 1 introduces schedule 1 and is commenced only for the purposes of the paragraphs that are being commenced. Those make general provision about the Commission.

Article 2(b) commences section 7 which provides for the laying of a strategic plan before the Scottish Parliament.
