The Football Banning Orders (Regulated Football Matches) (Scotland) Order 2007

Coming into force
The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 55(4) of the Police, Public Order and Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 20061 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:

Citation and commencement1.

This Order may be cited as the Football Banning Orders (Regulated Football Matches) (Scotland) Order 2007 and shall come into force on 1st April 2007.

Regulated football matches2.

In section 55(3) of the Police, Public Order and Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2006 (descriptions of regulated football matches), after paragraph (a) there is inserted–

“(aa)

football matches anywhere in the United Kingdom, not falling within paragraph (a)–

(i)

which are part of a competition or tournament organised by, or under the authority of, the Federation Internationale de Football Associations (“FIFA”) or the Union of European Football Associations (“UEFA”); and

(ii)

where one or both of the participating teams represents a club which is for the time being a member (whether a full or associate member) of, or affiliated to, a national football association which is a member of FIFA;”.

This Order, which comes into force on the 1st April 2007, modifies section 55(3) of the Police, Public Order and Criminal Justice (Scotland) Act 2006 (“the 2006 Act”).

Article 2 adds to the categories of regulated matches listed in section 55(3) of the 2006 Act any match involving a club whose national football association is a member of, or affiliated to the Federation Internationale de Football Associations (FIFA), where the match is part of a competition or tournament organised by or under the authority of FIFA, or the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA).
