Their Lordships, in exercise of the powers conferred upon Them by sections 48 and 60(3) of the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 19921 and of all other powers enabling Them in that behalf, order as follows:
Citation, commencement and interpretation1

This Order may be cited as the Academic Awards and Distinctions (The Robert Gordon University) (Scotland) Order of Council 2006 and shall come into force on 4th October 2006.

In this Order, “the Act” means the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 1992 and “The Robert Gordon University” means the institution of higher education established by the Robert Gordon University (Establishment) (Scotland) Order 20062.
Competence to grant academic awards and distinctions2

The Robert Gordon University is specified as competent to grant all such awards and distinctions as may be granted in pursuance of section 48(2) and (3) of the Act.

The date specified for the purpose of section 48(2)(a) of the Act in relation to The Robert Gordon University is 4th October 2006.

If the name of The Robert Gordon University is changed under section 49 of the Act or under any other power, the competence to grant awards and distinctions arising from the specification in paragraph (1) above shall continue to apply to that institution as renamed.
Consequential Amendments3
In the Academic Awards and Distinctions (Scotland) Order of Council 19923–

insert “and” after article 2(1)(c); and

in article 2(1), omit–
