The Strathclyde Passenger Transport Area (Variation) Order 2006

Coming into force in accordance with article 1

The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 40(8) of the Local Government etc. (Scotland) Act 19941 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Order:

Citation and commencement1

This Order may be cited as the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Area (Variation) Order 2006 and shall come into force immediately before 1st April 2006.

Variation of the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Area2

The Strathclyde Passenger Transport Area (Designation) Order 19952 is amended as follows.

In article 2–

a

omit the definition of “direction”;

b

in the definition of “electoral ward” for “as at 6th April 1995 specified in a direction” substitute “as constituted in the Schedule to the Argyll and Bute (Electoral Arrangements) Order 19983”; and

c

in the definition of “local government area” for “6th April 1995 named in column 1 of Part I of Schedule 1 to the 1994 Act” substitute “1st December 2005”.

In the Schedule–

a

in sub paragraph (a) omit from “28” to the end of the sub-paragraph and substitute “27 to 36”;

b

in sub paragraph (b) omit “except electoral wards 26 to 28”;

c

in sub paragraph (c) omit from “except” to the end of the sub paragraph;

d

in sub paragraph (d) omit “except electoral wards 21 to 25”;

e

for sub paragraph (e) substitute “(e) West Dunbartonshire;”; and

f

in sub paragraph (j) omit “except electoral ward 7”.

This order amends the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Area (Designation) Order 1995 to vary the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Area.

Certain functions of the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive and the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Authority will transfer to the West of Scotland Transport Partnership4 by virtue of the Transfer of Functions from the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Authority and the Strathclyde Passenger Transport Executive to the West of Scotland Transport Partnership Order 20065 on 1st April 2006. This order ensures that, immediately before this transfer of functions, the amended Strathclyde Passenger Transport Area aligns with the area covered by the West of Scotland Transport Partnership.
