<Text>The Solicitors (Scotland) Act 1980 is amended as follows:–</Text>

<Text>Article 2(a) increases the maximum sum which the Council of the Law Society of Scotland may direct the solicitor to pay to the client by way of compensation from £1,000 to £5,000.</Text>

<Text>Article 2(b) increases the maximum sum which the Scottish Solicitors' Discipline Tribunal may direct the solicitor to pay to the client by way of compensation from £1,000 to £5,000.</Text>
