The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 3(1) and (2) of the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 1992(1) and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, having consulted the education authority for the area in which the college is to be situated and any other person appearing to them to be affected in accordance with section 5 of the said Act, hereby make the following Order:
1. This Order may be cited as the Glasgow Metropolitan College (Establishment) Order 2004 and shall come into force on 1st August 2004.
2. On 1st August 2004 there shall be established–
(a)a new college of further education designated with the name “Glasgow Metropolitan College”; and
(b)a body corporate of Glasgow Metropolitan College, to be known as “the Board of Management of Glasgow Metropolitan College”.

This Order establishes the Glasgow Metropolitan College. That college is under the control of a board of management in terms of the Further and Higher Education (Scotland) Act 1992. The Order therefore designates the name of the College as Glasgow Metropolitan College, and establishes the body corporate to be known as “the Board of Management of Glasgow Metropolitan College”.
1992 c. 37. The functions of the Secretary of State were transferred to the Scottish Ministers by virtue of section 53 of the Scotland Act 1998 (c. 46).
