(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the National Health Service (General Ophthalmic Services) (Scotland) Regulations 1986 which make arrangements under which ophthalmic medical practitioners and ophthalmic opticians provide general ophthalmic services under the National Health Service (Scotland) Act 1978 (c. 29).
Regulation 2(2) to (4) and (6) contains amendments required as a result of the dissolution of NHS trusts.
Regulation 2(5) increases the income level at which persons are entitled to a free NHS sight test under National Health Service general ophthalmic services. The income level at which entitlement arises is increased from that which is equal to (or less than) a person’s requirements to that which exceeds requirements by fifty per cent or less of the NHS prescription charge.
