Whereas the Scottish Ministers consider that the variation of the sums varied by this Order is expedient in consequence of changes to the value of money; now, therefore, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 76A(1)(a) of the Representation of the People Act 19831 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, they hereby make the following Order:
Citation, commencement and extent1

This Order may be cited as the Representation of the People (Variation of Limits of Candidates' Local Government Election Expenses) (Scotland) Order 2003 and shall come into force on 4th March 2003.

This Order extends to Scotland only.
Provisions2
The maximum amounts of a candidate’s election expenses at a Scottish local government election in Scotland shall be varied by substituting for the sums “£219” and “4.3p” in section 76(2)(b)(ii) of the Representation of the People Act 19832, the sums “£242” and “4.7p”, respectively.
