The Scottish Legal Aid Board (Employment of Solicitors to Provide Criminal Legal Assistance) Amendment Regulations 2003

The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 28A(1) and (5) of the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 19861, and all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:

Citation and commencement

These Regulations may be cited as the Scottish Legal Aid Board (Employment of Solicitors to Provide Criminal Legal Assistance) Amendment Regulations 2003 and shall come into force on 18th November 2003.

Amendment of the Scottish Legal Aid Board (Employment of Solicitors to Provide Criminal Legal Assistance) Regulations 1998

The Scottish Legal Aid Board (Employment of Solicitors to Provide Criminal Legal Assistance) Regulations 19982 are amended in accordance with the following regulation.

In regulation 3 omit–

“(a)
those solicitors are to be used in the Sheriff Court district of Edinburgh; and”.

These Regulations amend the Scottish Legal Aid Board (Employment of Solicitors to Provide Criminal Legal Assistance) Regulations 1998 to remove the provision that restricts solicitors in the Public Defence Solicitors Office to being used only in the Sheriff Court district of Edinburgh.
