The Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1986 Amendment Regulations 2002

The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred by sections 13(4) and 37(1) of the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 19861, and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations, a draft of which has, in accordance with section 37(2) of that Act, been laid before and approved by resolution of the Scottish Parliament:

Citation and commencement1.

These Regulations may be cited as the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1986 Amendment Regulations 2002 and shall come into force on 1st December 2002.

Courts in which civil legal aid is available2.

At the end of paragraph 1 of Part I of Schedule 2 (courts in which civil legal aid is available) to the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 19862 there is inserted–
  • “comprising an appeal to the Social Security Commissioners3;
  • comprising an appeal to the Child Support Commissioners4

These Regulations add proceedings comprising appeals to the Social Security Commissioners and appeals to the Child Support Commissioners to the list of proceedings at Part I of Schedule 2 to the Legal Aid (Scotland) Act 1986 for which civil legal aid is available.
