The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 61(2) of the Standards in Scotland’s Schools etc. Act 2000(1), hereby make the following Order:

Citation

1.  This Order may be cited as the Standards in Scotland’s Schools etc. Act 2000 (Commencement No. 4) Order 2001.

Appointed day

2.  23rd March 2001 is the day appointed for the coming into force of section 55 (abolition of Scottish Joint Negotiating Committee for School Education) of the Standards in Scotland’s Schools etc. Act 2000.

Explanatory Note

(This note is not part of the Order)

This Order brings into force on 23rd March 2001 section 55 of the Standards in Scotland’s Schools etc. Act 2000 which abolishes the Scottish Joint Negotiating Committee for School Education (“the SJNC”), the statutory collective bargaining forum for Scottish teachers' pay and conditions.
