Explanatory Note
(This note is not part of the Regulations)
These Regulations amend the Births, Deaths, Marriages and Divorces (Fees) (Scotland) Regulations 1998 so as to increase the fee for the submission of a marriage notice with effect from 1st April 2001.
The fee payable for the submission of a marriage notice under the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977 is increased from £12.00 to £13.00 (regulation 2).
1977 c. 15; section 26 contains a definition of “prescribed” relevant to the exercise of the statutory powers under which these Regulations are made.
The functions of the Secretary of State under section 25 of the Marriage (Scotland) Act 1977 were transferred to the Scottish Ministers by virtue of section 53 of the Scotland Act 1998 (c. 46).
