Coming into force
The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred upon them by section 1(2)(b) and (7) of and paragraph 1(1) of Schedule 2 to the Education (Student Loans) Act 19901 and all other powers enabling them in that behalf, hereby make the following Regulations:
Citation, commencement and extent1

These Regulations may be cited as the Education (Student Loans) Amendment (Scotland) Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 1st August 2000.

These Regulations extend beyond Scotland but do so only as a matter of Scots law2.
Amendment of Regulations

The Education (Student Loans) Regulations 19983 shall be amended as follows.

In regulation 3(1) there shall be inserted in the appropriate place the following definition–

At the end of regulation 3(4) there shall be added the following sentence–
Without prejudice to the foregoing, members of the regular naval, military or air forces of the Crown shall be treated as being temporarily employed within the meaning of this paragraph for any period during which they serve outside the United Kingdom and Islands as members of such forces.

In regulation 6(1) to (4) for each of the figures in the first column below wherever it appears substitute the corresponding figure in the second column below:
