The Tetrachloroethylene in Olive Oil (Scotland) Revocation Regulations 2000

Coming into force

The Scottish Ministers, in exercise of the powers conferred on them by sections 17(2) and 48(1) of the Food Safety Act 19901 and of all other powers enabling them in that behalf, having regard in accordance with section 48(4A) of that Act2 to relevant advice given by the Food Standards Agency, hereby make the following Regulations:

Citation, commencement and extent

These Regulations may be cited as the Tetrachloroethylene in Olive Oil (Scotland) Revocation Regulations 2000 and shall come into force on 30th September 2000.

These Regulations extend to Scotland only.

Revocation and amendment2

The Tetrachloroethylene in Olive Oil (Scotland) Regulations 19893 are hereby revoked.

The Food Safety Act (Consequential Modifications) (Scotland) Order 19904 is amended by removing any reference to the Tetrachloroethylene in Olive Oil (Scotland) Regulations 1989 from:

Part I of Schedule 1;

b

Part II of Schedule 3;

c

Schedule 4; and

d

Schedule 8.

These Regulations, which apply only to Scotland;

  • revoke the Tetrachloroethylene in Olive Oil (Scotland) Regulations 1989, as amended which applied in Scotland; and

  • amend the Food Safety Act (Consequential Modifications) (Scotland) Order 1990 by removing the references to the Tetrachloroethylene in Olive Oil Regulations 1989.

The Tetrachloroethylene in Olive Oil Regulations 1989 made provision for the enforcement of Article 1 of Commission Regulation (EEC) No. 1860/88 on the establishment of special marketing standards for olive oil (O.J. No. L 166, 1.7.88, p.16). That Commission Regulation has now been revoked by Commission Regulation (EEC) No. 3009/91 (O.J. L 286, 16.10.91, p.19) and replaced by Commission Regulation (EEC) No. 2568/91 (O.J. No. L 248, 5.9.91, p.1) enforcement of which is provided for in the Olive Oil Marketing Standards (Amendment) Regulations 1992 (S.I.1992/2590).
