This Order amends Articles 77(1), 106(3), 108(6) and 108(8) of The Betting, Gaming, Lotteries and Amusements (Northern Ireland) Order 1985 by increasing various monetary limits relating to prizes and charges. It also revokes provisions of previously made ‘Variation of Monetary Limits’ Orders.
Article 3 increases:–
the maximum amount that may be paid by any one person for any one chance to win a prize in gaming on bingo club premises, other than by means of a gaming machine, from £0.50 to £1;
the limit on the maximum aggregate amount that may be taken by way of the sale of chances in any single determination of prize winners in gaming on bingo club premises, other than by means of a gaming machine from £120 to £500;
the maximum money prize which can be distributed or offered in any single determination of prize winners in gaming on bingo club premises, other than by means of a gaming machine from £25 to £100; and
the maximum permitted aggregate amount or value of prizes in any single determination of prize winners in gaming on bingo club premises, other than by means of a gaming machine, from £120 to £500.
Article 4 increases the maximum permitted charge in respect of playing one game by means of a gaming machine in a registered club from £0.50 to £2.
Article 5 increases:–
the maximum charge, in respect of playing any game once by means of a gaming machine installed on a licensed premises within the meaning of The Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 from £0.30 to £1;
the maximum charge for playing any game once by means of a gaming machine installed on a bingo club premises, a licensed office or a premises for which there is an amusement permit in force from £0.30 to £2;
the maximum entitlement to a money prize in respect of any one game played on a gaming machine installed on a licensed premises within the meaning of The Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 from £25 to £100; and
the maximum entitlement to a money prize in respect of any one game played on a gaming machine installed on a bingo club premises, a licensed office or a premises for which there is an amusement permit in force from £25 to £500.
