Coming into operation
The Department of Health1in exercise of the powers conferred by section 90(2) of the Coronavirus Act 20202, makes the following order.

Citation and commencement 1.

This order may be cited as The Coronavirus Act 2020 (Extension of Powers to Act for the Protection of Public Health) (No. 2) Order (Northern Ireland) 2023 and shall come into operation on 24th September 2023.

X1This statutory rule was made under a procedure whereby it ceases to have effect at the end of the period of 40 days beginning with the day on which it was made unless, during that period, the instrument is approved by a resolution of the Northern Ireland Assembly. It was not approved within that period and so has ceased to have effect.

Alteration of expiry date 2.

Section 48 of, and Schedule 18 to, the Coronavirus Act 2020 do not expire at the time when they would otherwise expire and expire instead on 24th March 2024.
