EXPLANATORY NOTE

(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations prescribe the form and dimensions of the notice relating to licence conditions that restaurants must display in those areas where main table meals are served or where intoxicating liquor and other beverages are served to diners before or after such meals.

These Regulations also prescribe information in relation to the conditions mentioned in Article 51(3) of the Licensing (Northern Ireland) Order 1996 No. 3158 (N.I. 22) (“the 1996 Order”) that must be complied with in relation to the sale and consumption of intoxicating liquor in such premises.

The Regulations also apply to guest houses which carry on the business of a restaurant in the premises – see Article 51(2) of the 1996 Order.
