The Domestic Energy Efficiency Grants (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021

Coming into operation
The Department for Communities makes the following Regulations in exercise of the powers conferred by Article 17 of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 19901 and now vested in it2.

The Department of Finance has consented to the making of the Regulations in accordance with Article 17(8) of the Social Security (Northern Ireland) Order 1990.

Citation, commencement and interpretation

(1)

These Regulations may be cited as the Domestic Energy Efficiency Grants (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2021 and shall come into operation on 1st July 2021.

(2)

In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Domestic Energy Efficiency Grants Regulations (Northern Ireland) 20093.

Amendments to the principal Regulations

The principal Regulations are amended in accordance with regulation 3.

In Regulation 5 (persons to whom a grant may be made)4 in paragraph (2B)5, for “£20,000” substitute “£23,000”.

Savings Provisions

4.

(1)

Regulation 5 (persons to whom a grant may be made) of the principal Regulations, as that regulation had effect immediately before the relevant date, shall continue to apply to an Affordable Warmth Grant made before the relevant date.

(2)

In paragraph (1) the relevant date means the date of coming into operation of these Regulations.

EXPLANATORY NOTE
(This note is not part of the Regulations)

These Regulations enable the Department for Communities to increase the income threshold for the making of grant for the improvement of energy efficiency in private sector dwellings occupied by persons on low incomes.
