2. In regulation 34 of the Universal Credit Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016(1)—
(a)in paragraph (1)(a) (the childcare costs condition) for “before the end of that assessment period” substitute “before the end of the assessment period that follows the assessment period in which they are paid”;
(b)after paragraph (2) insert—
“(3) For the purposes of paragraph (2), “the relevant notification period” in regulation 36 of the Universal Credit, Personal Independence Payment, Jobseeker’s Allowance and Employment and Support Allowance (Decisions and Appeals) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016(2) (effective dates for superseding decisions where changes notified late) means a period of time ending on the last day of the assessment period that follows the assessment period in which the charges for relevant childcare were paid.”.
