The Department of Justice, in exercise of the powers conferred by section 6(2) and (3) of the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 20151 makes the following Order.

Citation and commencement1.

This Order may be cited as the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2015 (Single Jurisdiction) (Consequential Amendments and Revocations) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016 and shall come into operation on the same date as section 1 of the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2015 comes into operation.

(This note is not part of the Order)

Part 2 of the Order makes consequential amendments to the Orders and Regulations listed below to take account of Part 1 of and Schedule 1 to the Justice Act (Northern Ireland) 2015 (“the Act”) which abolished county court divisions and petty sessions districts in Northern Ireland, and created a single territorial jurisdiction for the county courts and magistrates’ courts, supported by an administrative framework:

Part 3 lists the Orders which are revoked in consequence of Part 1 of the Act. In addition to the abolition of petty sessions districts and county court divisions by section 1 of the Act, divorce county courts and civil partnership proceedings county courts as distinct designations of county courts were also abolished by virtue of paragraphs 76 and 124 of Schedule 1 to the Act. Accordingly, the following Orders are revoked:
