The Department of Health, Social Services and Public Safety has approved these Regulations in accordance with Article 25A(2) of that Order. Citation, commencement and interpretation 1 These Regulations may be cited as the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (General) (Amendment) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2016 and shall come into operation on 1st June 2016. 2 In these Regulations “the principal Regulations” means the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1994. Amendment of the principal Regulations 3 In regulation 2 of the principal Regulations (registration fees) for “£372” there shall be substituted “£398” and for “£145” there shall be substituted “£206”. 4 For regulation 4 of the principal Regulations (retention fees) substitute— 4 The retention fee payable in respect of each year under Article 15(1) of the Order shall be— a in respect of a member of the Society, £398; b in respect of a student of the Society, £10. . 5 In Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations (Conditions applicable to Registration Examination)— a in paragraph 3(a) for “£75.00” there shall be substituted “£174”; b in paragraph 5 for “£40.00” there shall be substituted “£174”. These Regulations amend the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (General) Regulations (Northern Ireland) 1994 (“the principal Regulations”) which prescribe the fees for examination and registration, for retention of registration and for annotation of the register, which are to be paid to the Pharmaceutical Society of Northern Ireland (“the Society”).

Regulation 3 increases the fees in regulation 2 of the principal Regulations in respect of registration as a pharmaceutical chemist and as a student.

Regulation 4 substitutes regulation 4 of the principal Regulations. Under the new provisions, there are no distinct categories of retention fee for non-residents, over 65s and over 70s. The fee in respect of retention as a member of the Society is increased from £372 to £398.

Regulation 5 amends Schedule 2 to the principal Regulations in respect of increasing the fees payable for the registration examination and re-examination.
