The Department of the Environment makes the following Order in exercise of the powers conferred by section 51(1) of the Local Government Act (Northern Ireland) 1972 and now vested in it.

 In accordance with that section 51(1), the Department of the Environment has received an application from North Down and Ards Borough Council to change the name of the district of the council from North Down and Ards to Ards and North Down. Citation and commencement 1 This Order may be cited as the Change of District Name (North Down and Ards) Order (Northern Ireland) 2016 and shall come into operation on 24th February 2016. Change of district name 2 The name of the district of North Down and Ards shall be changed to Ards and North Down.
