This Order brings into operation section 27 of the Pensions Act (Northern Ireland) 2012 on 24th July 2014.
Section 27 inserts section 176B into the Pension Schemes (Northern Ireland) Act 1993 (c. 49), which supplements the definition of “money purchase benefits” in section 176(1) of that Act, with retrospective effect to 1st January 1997. It also inserts section 78A into the Pensions (No. 2) Act (Northern Ireland) 2008 (c. 13 (N.I.)), which supplements the definition of “money purchase benefits” in section 78 of that Act, with retrospective effect to 5th July 2010.
